In this day and age that we live in, we have seen and read a ton of studies saying that married people have better sex than single people. However, even though the title of this blog might allude to that, it has nothing to do with sex. This is about the most important thing a marriage can have. It is the thing that is more important than sex, prayer. Did you know that married people have the potential to have the best prayer life out of any group? And by best prayer life I mean that all of your prayers get answered! Matthew 18:20 (KJV) says, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name there am I in the midst of them” which means anytime a husband and wife pray, Jesus is there with them no matter where they are. Think about it, you two can be in the same room or in different countries, as long as you two are joined together, in agreement, the Lord will be there. Remember two can’t walk together unless they agree (Amos 3:3). I know that when you don’t pray often or when you’re just starting to pray together, it can feel a little weird and a little dry. Even if this is the case I encourage you to do it so you can get to a level of comfort. Trust me, it will benefit you in the long run. Start with a few minutes a day, with both of you praying, until you get to a place where you are comfortable with each other and comfortable to recognize the voice of God.
Prayer isn’t just good communication between you and God, this is good communication for you and your spouse. It allows both of you to, first, commune and listen to and for the voice of God. Second, it allows you to be supportive of each other in the things (wants and needs) that only God can make happen. So, as long as you and your spouse are in agreement then Jesus is always in your midst. Now think about marriage, think about communing with your spouse and God, and always having someone in agreement with you and read Matthew 18:19-20, it will open your mind to the possibilities.
