Why Relate?
We believe God's goal for us is to understand true relationship. Before you begin to doubt this concept, take a moment to ask yourself a few questions?
- Why doesn't God exist alone? Would it not be less troublesome for Him if we did not exist?
- Why, being God, does He care so much about the fall of man?
- Why does He give us so many chances when we fail Him?
- If we are created in His image, does God feel an emptiness in our absence like we do when our loved ones leave us?
- Why did God wait to create us last?
- If angels were created to do his bidding and to worship Him without question, why did He create man?
- Why does God get upset with us when we mistreat one another?
- Why does He call us sons, daughters, and friend?
- Why did He give His only "begotten" Son? (There is a difference.)
- Why is there a repetitive theme of repentance in the Bible?
These are just a few questions we have asked ourselves in order to answer one very important question:
"What does God want from me?!" He wants relationship, just like we want relationship with others. We desire to be married, close to loved ones, tight with our siblings, missed when we're apart, accepted by our parents, adored by our children, appreciated by our employers, seen as a valuable member to a team, and so on. |
Where do you think these emotions and feelings originate? Genesis 1:27 is the beginning of the answer to this question. "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." There is something that lies in each one of us that fulfills the needs of others, including God your creator.
