Our most basic emotional need is to be genuinely loved by another, to know a love that grows out of reason and choice, not instinct. At the heart of many troubled relationships and marriages there is one desire that is echoed time and time again. "I need to be loved by someone who chooses to love me, who recognizes something inside me worth loving." Truth be told, this is very difficult to experience without knowing true love first. Godly marriages are built on the one true love, and that is the love of God. When we do not know this love personally, we have a very difficult time showing it or receiving it in any relationship. Take our word for it. This kind of love is worth striving for!
One great reason is, as children of God, we get to live and grow in a redemptive atmosphere. There is nothing more pleasurable than a redemptive love. It is vast, pure, and most of all unconditional. It's a place of healing, forgiveness, joy, understanding, and selflessness. Sounds familiar? Sounds like someone we know, huh? And here is the kicker. We are made in that same image. So as witnesses and disciples first in our own lives and our own homes, let us begin to create an atmosphere of redemption, an atmosphere that addresses the spiritual and emotional needs of the ones in our lives. If you have not done so already, join us in this challenge to encourage others to not just create a good marriage, but an atmosphere of redemption for marriage to grow and thrive.
